Appropriation of $800.00 to the Brushton-Moira American Legion, Post 939
Town Law §64, subdivision 12 provides that any town may appropriate annually such sums as it may deem appropriate for the purpose of defraying the expenses of the proper observance of Independence day, Memorial or Decoration day, Columbus day and Veterans day in such proportion as it may determine.
Town Law §64, subdivision 13 provides that in any town in which there may, now or hereafter, be one or more posts of the American Legion, the town board may appropriate a sum not exceeding five hundred dollars for each post in any year for the purpose of assisting in defraying the rental or maintenance of rooms for holding meetings of such post.
During it’s January 2024 Regular Monthly Meeting, The Moira Town Board by Resolution #55 of 2024, unanimously voted in favor of appropriation of $500.00 to Brushton-Moira American Legion, Post 939, for the purpose of defraying the expenses of the proper observance of Memorial Day and Veterans Day as budgeted, and $300.00 for the purpose of assisting in defraying the maintenance of rooms for holding meetings of such post, located at 29 County Route 17 (Sayles Road), Moira, NY, as budgeted.
Contract for Emergency Medical Ambulance Services with Moira EMS, Inc.
During its February 2024 Regular Monthly Meeting, The Moira Town Board by Resolution #61 of 2024, unanimously (1 Absent) voted in favor of accepting a service contract agreement between the Town, the Village of Brushton, and Moira EMS, Inc. to provide emergency medical ambulance services for the Town and Village for 2024, in the amount of $35,550.00 as budgeted, and applied Townwide (including the Village), raised by real estate taxes, and paid by the Town. Moira EMS shall provide twenty-four-hour, seven days per week, emergency medical ambulance services for all persons in the Town and Village requiring such services and shall provide pre-hospital emergency medical treatment and shall transport sick or injured persons found within the boundaries of the Town and Village to a hospital or other health care facility for treatment of such illness or injury during FY2024 (Jan 1-Dec 31).
Contract for Services with Moira New Hope Food Pantry
During its February 2024 Regular Monthly Meeting, The Moira Town Board by Resolution #62 of 2024, unanimously (1 Absent) voted in favor of accepting a service contract agreement between the Town and Moira New Hope Food Pantry at Living Water Life Station Church, 98 State Route 95, Moira, NY to provide support to that organization for FY2024 (Jan 1-Dec 31) to provide food to needy individuals in the Town of Moira in the amount of $2000.00, as budgeted. The New Hope Food Pantry will continue their efforts to provide proper nutrition and food security for the residents of the Town of Moira, including those who may be unable to afford to buy sufficient quantities of food with their own funds.

The Brushton-Moira Food Pantry will continue their efforts to provide proper nutrition and food security for the residents of the Town of Moira, including those who may be unable to afford to buy sufficient quantities of food with their own funds.
Contract for Sheltering with Town of Bangor Dog Shelter
During its February 2024 Regular Monthly Meeting, The Moira Town Board by Resolution #66 of 2024, unanimously (1 Absent) voted in favor of accepting a service contract agreement between the Town and the Town of Bangor Dog Shelter at 1306 County Route 8 (Farm to Market Rd.) North Bangor, NY for FY2024 to provide for the secure containment, health, and adequate care of sheltered dogs and cats needing those services in our community through no fault of their own, in the amount of $1200.00, as budgeted.
